The VL-3TE-915 Evolution is a single-engine composite aircraft with two side-by-side seats. The aircraft is equipped with retractable tricycle landing gear featuring a steerable nose wheel. The fuselage is a carbon shell with integrated carbon/Kevlar seats. The wing is a monospar structure with sandwich skin made of two layers of carbon and special foam. The control surfaces and tail section are constructed in the same manner.
The aircraft is controlled by a dual push-pull control system. Rudder actuation is controlled by cables, and the right elevator trim is trim-linked with two cables. The ailerons and elevator are controlled by a control stick located between the pilot’s and co-pilot’s legs. The rudder is controlled by rudder pedals, while the flaps are manually operated by a control lever located between the pilots on the fuselage main spar.
